Since April 1, 2020, I am officially unemployed. In March I decided to change careers. From a Office Administrator to Beauty Esthetician. Businesses had to close door because of the worldwide COVID-pandemic. I had to start doing something instead of just being at home and doing home-stuff. Hey, you can just so much vacuum, wash carpets and windows! So I decided to start baking and cooking and showing friends how easy it really is. Using my granny's recipes, converting from South African ingredients to Canadian and wholla! I have a South African-Canadian inspired dish.
My husband helps me to make a video of the baking process. Which isn't easy, let me tell you. It's like talking to myself the whole time, and this time I am answering my own questions and all in front of a camera. For me, who loves working behind the curtains, this is out-of-the-box-thinking.
It is the most gorgeous day Vancouver's West Coast. The sun is shining, there are no clouds and there is a breezes touching the trees. We decided to start with a very simple and reliable recipe, Lemon Meringue Pie. And from there making the video and then I have my first recipe and video done. Well, let me tell you, it ain't easy. First, I have to talk in English, think in Afrikaans and then answer myself with a proper English sentence. And just when I thought I had it done, this happened:
Lemon Meringue Pie - behind-the-scene-bloopers - How not to remove it from the oven
My husband, Riaan, decided that I have to share this extremely funny incident with our friends on Facebook and some of them suggested that we will have to add it to a YouTube Channel. Next Riaan did that and there this whole food blogging website started.
Enjoy this new chapter with me. It is going to be a fun experience!
